COMMANDER’S INSPECTION AT SLAF DISASTER MANAGEMENT TRAINING SCHOOL, DIGANA

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, conducted the Annual Commander's Inspection at SLAF Disaster Management Training School Digana today (02 April 2026). 

The Commander was received by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain Lakmal Jayathilaka, where a ceremonial street line was accorded upon his arrival.

During the course of the inspection, the Commander declared open the newly constructed Main Guard Room  at Disaster Management Training School and visited all areas of the School and joined a cross-section of officers, airmen, airwomen and civilian staff at the Airmen's Mess during All-Ranks Lunch.

Furthermore,  following three service personal are received commendations from the Commander in recognition of their meritorious service to the SLAF. 

Corporal Rodrigo VMC (Operations Ground II)

Corporal Dharmasena BAPP (Water Work Technician III)

Leading Aircraftman Rathnayake YMAGA (Wood Technician III)

Following the awarding of commendations, the Commander addressed all ranks of the Station. During his address, the Commander highlighted that the Air Force is currently striving to advance in the field of modern technology. He noted that necessary measures have already been initiated to achieve a higher technological standard and to enhance Air Power by the end of the year.

The Commander further emphasized that these efforts are being undertaken in the context of the prevailing global security environment, as well as the economic and energy-related challenges currently faced by the nation.

All personnel were reminded of the importance of exercising utmost care and prudence in the utilization of available resources. They were encouraged to adopt a disciplined and resource-conscious approach in order to effectively support the implementation of these measures and overcome existing challenges.

Moreover, the Commander  appreciated to the Commanding Officer, other officers and all service personnel for their dedication and for the successful conduct of the Annual Commander’s Inspection.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
