ABOUT THE AIRFRAME TECHNICIAN (DRAUGHTSMAN)

Description

The Engineering Draughtsman is recruited for the limited period of years as a short-term employment. The Engineering Draughtsman is a specialized technical tradesman responsible for the preparation, interpretation and management of engineering drawings, technical diagrams and design documentation related to aircraft systems, components and ground support equipment. The role supports aircraft maintenance, modification, repair and engineering development activities by providing accurate and standardized technical drawings in accordance with airworthiness and engineering standards. The draughtsman plays a vital role in ensuring design accuracy, configuration control and documentation integrity within the Sri Lanka Air Force aviation and general engineering environment. They operate within engineering formations and R&D establishments working closely with engineering officers and technical specialists.

Duties and Responsibilities

Engineering drawing preparation.
Technical documentation and drafting support.
Interpretation of technical drawings.
Create CAD and digital design systems.

GCE O/L REQUIREMENTS

Passes in 06 subjects at the GCE (O/L) Examination in not more than two sittings including simple (S) passes in Sinhala / Tamil, English language, Mathematics / Science.
or
Pearson Edexcel International General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) exam or Cambridge International Ordinary Level exams: Passes in 06 subjects in not more than two sittings. Passes are compulsory for English, all Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) or Mathematics.
and
Successful completion of Engineering Draughtsmanship Certificate Course at a Technical College recognized by the Ministry of Vocational and Technical Training should be make equal to National Vocational Qualification Level III or IV (NVQ Level III or IV)
